Classic Apple Crisp Recipe

6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples (a mix of sweet and tart varieties like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp works well) 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

For the Crisp Topping

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or a similar-sized oven-safe dish.

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.

In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.

Add the cold, cubed butter. Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, blend the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. If desired, mix in chopped nuts for added crunch.
